Dead Body Found in Allegheny River

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — A dead body was found in the Allegheny River on Monday morning.

Around 11:54 a.m. on Monday, May 28, Franklin-based State Police responded to the Allegheny River, approximately .5 miles south of the Oil City Marina, in Cranberry Township, Venango County, for a death investigation.

Kayakers traveling south on the Allegheny River located the victim’s body near the shoreline and called Venango County 911.

At this time, the victim cannot be identified.

An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for May 29, 2018.

Further details will be released when they become available on the identity of the found victim.

The investigation continues.
