Truck Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel, Hits Guide Rail in Beaver Township

BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel early Friday morning and crashed into a guide rail on I-80 westbound in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

According to Clarion-based State Police, around 3:37 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 47-year-old Corey J. Ness, of Loudonville, OH, was operating a 2016 Kenworth truck traveling westbound on Interstate 80 at mile marker 54.8 in Beaver Township.

The vehicle was traveling in the left lane when Ness fell asleep, exited the south side of the roadway, and struck a guide rail. The vehicle came to a final rest facing west.

Ness was wearing his seat belt and did not suffer any injuries.

He was charged with a traffic violation.
