SIGEL, Pa. (EYT) — A 35-year-old woman is facing attempted homicide and related charges after allegedly pointing a gun at her husband and firing it into a wall at their Sigel area camp.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Rose Eleanor Lazaron, of Blawnox, Allegheny County, faces the following charges:

– Criminal Attempt — Criminal Homicide, Felony 1
– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Aggravated Assault, Felony 2
– Discharge Of A Firearm Into Occupied Structure, Felony 3
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)

She remains lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. for Tuesday, June 12, in Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak’s office.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 3:34 a.m. on Sunday, May 27, PSP Marienville was contacted by the Brookville Hospital staff regarding a known man who was being treated. It was reported that the man had suffered a laceration to the back of his head as well as contusions to both of his forearms.

The man reported that he was assaulted by his wife, Rose Eleanor Lazaron, during an altercation at their camp.

Troopers Bauer and Salusky responded to the hospital to speak to the victim.

Interview with the Victim

The victim informed Trooper Bauer that he and Lazaron were engaged in a verbal altercation at their camp. The victim stated that both of them had been drinking. He said that while he was lying on the bed, Lazaron threw a lamp at him and then demanded to see his cell phone, as she suspected that he was cheating on her, according to the complaint.

The victim reported that Lazaron went over to his backpack, which was lying on the floor in the corner of the bedroom. He said he thought that she went over to look at his cell phone; but instead, she retrieved a firearm belonging to him that was in the backpack, the complaint states.

The victim said Lazaron pointed the firearm — a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 caliber — in his direction. She then pointed the firearm at the bedroom wall and discharged a round.

The victim reported that he dove off the bed and that Lazaron discharged another round. He said Lazaron then pointed the firearm at him and pulled the trigger, but the firearm did not discharge again, as it no longer contained any more live rounds.

The victim further informed Troopers Bauer and Salusky that he then attempted to take the firearm from Lazaron, and a physical altercation ensued. He said during the altercation, Lazaron struck him in the head and forearms with the firearm.

The victim also stated that he then retrieved the gun from Lazaron and ran to a neighbor’s house. He was then transported to Brookville Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Troopers Bauer and Salusky and Corporal Wolbert then responded to the scene for further investigation. They made contact with Lazaron, who acknowledged being in a physical altercation with the victim, the complaint states.

Two bullet holes were observed in a bedroom wall of the camp. A smashed cell phone was also seen on the floor of the bedroom as well as blood on the floor of the kitchen, the complaint states.

Lazaron was then transported to PSP Marienville.

Interview with Lazaron

After Lazaron was read her Miranda rights at PSP Marienville, Trooper Nicewonger and Corporal Wolbert interviewed her.

According to the complaint, Lazaron explained that she discovered that her husband was cheating on her again by looking at his cell phone. She said they were both intoxicated and that she smashed her husband’s cell phone.

She allegedly stated that she then picked up a firearm and said it is possible that she pointed it at the bedroom wall and that it discharged while in her hand. She said that she believed that the firearm only went off once while she was holding it, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Lazaron maintained that she never pointed the firearm at her husband.

She stated that her husband then attempted to get the gun from her, and she acknowledged that a physical altercation ensued.

When questioned about her husband’s injuries and whether or not she hit him in the head with the firearm, Lazaron said it was “possible” that she struck him in the head with the firearm because he had been threatening her, the complaint indicates.

Charges against Lazaron were filed on Sunday, May 27, in Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak’s office.

Unable to post $75,000.00 monetary bail, Lazaron was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.
