FRYBURG, Pa. (EYT) — The Clarion-Venango-Forest (CVF) County Farm Bureau promoted the dairy industry at the Mayfest Parade in Fryburg on Saturday, May 26, by handing out nearly 1800 half-pints of chocolate milk to the parade bystanders.

CVF under the leadership of Kayla Clark and Joel Kerle, Chairmen of the Young Farmer and Rancher Committee, entered a float with the theme of “Got Milk?”

The float sported a large white wrapped hay bale turned into a large cup of milk, complete with a straw. CVF members and their children rode the float, while other members pulled red wagons of iced chocolate milk to hand out to the crowd. They were assisted by the Clarion-Venango County Dairy Princess.

The CVF float took first place as the Best Appearing Organizational Float.

Schneider’s Dairy, Seneca, donated the milk and supplied a delivery truck to run in the parade behind the CVF float, so that ice cold milk was available all along the parade route. The milk seemed much appreciated by the crowd.

The dairy industry has taken a hit recently with milk contracts being canceled. CVF wanted to do something to make the public more aware of the importance of milk.
