Clarion Man Facing Charges After Being Pulled Over in Stolen Vehicle

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion man is facing a series of charges after he was pulled over driving without a license in a vehicle he did not have permission to use.

Court documents indicate that the Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 46-year-old Thomas Richard Hannold Jr., of Clarion.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:20 p.m. on Friday, May 18, Tpr. Allison was on patrol in an unmarked patrol vehicle exiting the Clarion Mall lot onto State Route 68 and witnessed a green 1999 Dodge Intrepid traveling south on State Route 68. The driver of the vehicle was Thomas Richard Hannold Jr. whose operating privileges were suspended due to DUI charges.

Tpr. Allison initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle on State Route 68 at its intersection with Perkins Road.

According to the criminal complaint, Hannold told Tpr. Allison that he did not have the owner’s permission to operate the vehicle.

Police contacted the owner and asked if Hannold had permission to operate the vehicle. The owner stated that Hannold did not have permission to operate the vehicle.

The owner also provided a written statement saying that he owned the vehicle Hannold was operating and no one else was authorized to use it.

Hannold was arraigned at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, May 24, in Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office on the following charges:

– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3
– Unauthorized Use Motor/Other Vehicles, Misdemeanor 2
– Driving W/O A License
– Driving License Suspended/Revoked Pursuant to Sec 3802/1547B1, Summary

Unable to post $5,000.00 cash bail, Hannold was lodged in the Clarion County Jail

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, with Judge Schill presiding.
