  • Antonio Brown returned from a nearly three-week absence from the Steelers and vented at the media for putting undue pressure on him and his family.
  • Some media are again attempting to put Alex Ovechkin in the same class as Sidney Crosby. That’s because Ovechkin is currently very visible as a Stanley Cup champion and playoff MVP after having a great postseason.
  • Celtics All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving said Tuesday that a contract extension this summer doesn’t make sense for him and that while he’s already bracing for the daily questions about his future, his sole focus is on getting healthy for next season and helping Boston take another step toward title contention.
  • The Oakland Raiders won’t be sending a 2019 draft pick to the New York Jets for Christian Hackenberg after all.
  • The first time Barry McDonnell identified Rickie Fowler as special, as a future big leaguer, the 8-year-old was not even known as Rickie. They called him Rick back then at the Murrieta Valley Golf Range, where it was clear the boy had a gift that would take him places most kids couldn’t fathom while plowing through buckets of scuffed-up balls.
