Clarion Little League Baseball, Softball All-Star Teams Named; Schedule Set

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — The Clarion Little League recently named two baseball All-Star teams and one softball all-star team for the 2018 postseason.

The league will be fielding a 12-and-under team and a 10-and-under team this season in the baseball brackets and a Little League softball team.

The 12-and-under team is comprised of many of the players who helped Clarion to a fourth-place finish in Pennsylvania in the 11-and-under bracket last year. Members of this year’s 12-and-under team include Nick Aaron, Bryce Brinkley, Jase Ferguson, Dauntae Girvan, Kohen Kemmer, Devon Lauer, Logan Lutz, Tanner Miller, Brayden Murray, Dawson Smail, Derek Smail, Jake Smith and Tommy Smith. The manager of the team is Bill Smith.

The 10-and-under team is made up of Gabe Anderson, Paul Craig, Nathan Frederick, Hayden Hindman, Liam Huwar, Hunter Lechner, Alex Love, Drew Martz, Parker Miller, Ethan Rex, Reese Runyan, Dylan Smail and Wyatt Watterson. The team is managed by Luke Huwar.

The Little League softball team consists of Alicyn Burford, Ansley Burke, Hadlee Campbell, Jenna Dunn, Brianna Forrest, Madison Greeley, Jocalyn Henry, Ada Huwar, Adisen Jackson, McKayla Kerle, Abby Knapp, Casey Love, Emily Troese and Alyssa Wiant. The team is managed by Brian Burford.

In addition to the teams being named, the District 25 schedules for baseball is also out.

The 12-and-under baseball bracket will consist of six teams in District 25 — Clarion, KRE (Knox, Rimersburg and Emlenton), Oil City, Franklin, Cranberry and Titusville.

The schedule gets underway Monday, June 25, when Clarion hosts Cranberry at 7:30 p.m. at Weaver Park. Also on the June 25, Franklin will host Oil City.

The winner of the Clarion/Cranberry game will then play Titusville June 27 with the Franklin/Oil City winner playing KRE. The losers of the June 25 games will next play June 29 against the loser of the second-round games with the Franklin/Oil City loser taking on the loser of the Clarion/Cranberry/Titusville game and the Clarion/Cranberry loser taking on the loser of the Franklin/Oil City/Titusville game in the double-elimination tournament.

The winner’s bracket finals will take place June 30 on the same day of the loser’s bracket semifinals. The loser’s bracket finals will be July 2 with that winner playing the winner of the winner’s bracket July 3. If needed, a winner-take-all contest will be played July 5.

The 10-and-under baseball bracket will consist of just four teams Clarion, Oil City, Titusville and Butler.

The first-round games will take place July 5 with Clarion hosting Oil City and Butler hosting Titusville with both games starting at 7 p.m.

The winners of those games will play in the winner’s bracket finals July 7 with the loser’s playing each other in the loser’s bracket semifinals of the double-elimination tournament July 6. The loser’s bracket finals will be July 8 with the winner of that game taking on the winner of the winner’s bracket finals July 9. If needed, a winner-take-all game will be held July 11.

The Clarion Little League Softball team was the only team in District 25 to enter the tournament. The team now advances to the Section Tournament, which will starting July 3.

First game for 12U All-Stars will be Monday, June 25 vs. Cranberry at 7:30 at Weaver Park! Come out and support these talented young men!
