BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — A 47-year-old man is facing a series of charges stemming from an incident that occurred at Sheetz in Brookville.

Court documents indicate the Brookville Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 47-year-old Coy Monk of Yonker, New York.

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, Officers Hollobaugh and Gallager were dispatched to Sheetz, in Brookville, for a report of an individual who was asked to leave. While en route, the officers were advised by Jefferson County Control that the individual, a black male wearing white shorts and a flowered shirt, was near the store’s gas pumps in the area of a white vehicle.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they observed the above-referenced man. Officer Gallagher noted that the man had a very “sleepy” look on his face and his eyes were bloodshot.

The complaint states that Officer Gallagher asked the man “what drug he was on,” and the man stated he was not on drugs. Officer Gallagher then asked the man to talk to Officer Hollobaugh while he went into the store.

Officer Gallagher spoke with an assistant manager inside the store, and the assistant manager identified the man they had spoken to as the individual in question. She stated that the man was stopping every customer he could and asking them about “acid and Jesus.”

Officer Gallagher also observed video surveillance footage of the man in which he got into a runners’ stance and did push-ups while talking to other customers.

The vehicle the man had arrived in a 2017 Ford Focus that had a Massachusetts registration and belonged to PV Holding Corp. out of Boston.

The man provided a New York ID under the name Coy Tabb, but the officers discovered that his real name was Cony Monk, and Coy Tabb was one of his aliases.

The officers proceeded to have Monk perform standard field sobriety tests, and he exhibited signs of impairment.

According to the complaint, after Officer Gallagher advised Monk that he was under arrest and asked him to turn and put his hands behind his back. He did so with some resistance. When the officers attempted to put him in their vehicle, Monk stated that he “did nothing wrong” and “wasn’t going.”

The complaint states that Monk resisted getting into the vehicle and the officers had to force him in.

Monk refused to consent to a blood draw, stating that he was afraid of needles.

He was transported to the Brookville Borough Police Department where he was placed in a holding cell.

When the officers placed Monk in the holding cell, he tried to follow them out, and they had to force him to sit down. Officer Hollobaugh then used a leg shackle to attach Monk to the bench in the holding cell, according to the complaint.

Based on the investigation, Monk was arraigned at 9:35 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office.
