JENKS TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Marienville-based State Police say a one-vehicle accident occurred on Saturday morning on State Route 66, in Jenks Township, Forest County.

According to police, around 7:20 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 47-year-old Christopher T. Queen, of Kane, was traveling south in the southbound lane of Route 66 in a 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit.

Queen swerved to miss a deer that was in the middle of the roadway just north of the village of Marienville.

His 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit struck the deer, and the Volkswagen traveled off the western berm and struck a ditch. The vehicle traveled along the ditch for a short distance and then impacted an embankment. It came to a final rest in the ditch, facing south.

Queen suffered suspected minor injuries.

His passenger — 30-year-old Ronald M. Lucore, of James City — was not injured.

Both occupants were using seat belts.
