The Volunteer Firefighters Jubilee Festival, a family event benefiting area volunteer fire departments started by the Knight Cruisers in 2015, has expanded this year to offer more events than ever before.

“A special thanks goes out to several local businesses who helped us bring in a five-ride carnival for the kids. We’re going to ask for donations to help bring that back each year,” said Heather Mann, of the Distant Area Volunteer Fire Department. “Any donations beyond what we need for the rides will also go to the fire departments.”

“We want to keep growing this event. Last year we had 15 departments from four counties participating, and this year we’re hoping to have even more.”

The festival will kick off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13, with the opening of the crafters and vendors.

The Fireman’s Cash Raffle event with Distant Area Volunteer Fire Department will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Food and beverages will be available.

“Tres Lads Band” will perform at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available at distantareavolunteerfiredepartment.net.

At 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, the Distant Area VFD is hosting a Fireman’s Mud Run 5k. Registration is available at RunSignUp.com/FiremansMudRun2018.

The Fire Truck Cruise-In, crafters, food vendors, other vendors, and inflatable carnival begin at 11:00 a.m. The Car Cruise-In, Motorcycle Cruise-In, and carnival games begin at noon and the Fireman’s Games begin at 4:00 p.m.

Admission is free, and all proceeds benefit participating Volunteer Fire Departments from Armstrong, Clarion, Jefferson, and Venango Counties.
