FOREST CO., Pa. — Beth Gilford, a paraprofessional at East Forest Elementary School, received the Loretta Woodson Award.

The award was presented by John Werner, Warren/Forest Chapter Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR) Treasurer/Region 9 PASR Director at the June 13, 2018 meeting of the Forest Area School District.

The Woodson Award is presented annually by local PASR chapters to recognize an education and support professionals who have exhibited creativity, initiative, or productivity relevant to the learning process and growth of children.

East Forest Elementary School teacher Kathe Preisel nominated Ms. Gilford.

Preisel stated in her nomination, “Beth helps to make coming to work at East Forest Elementary, a true joy, each and every day. It is obvious to all who know her that Beth loves the children that she serves and supports. She does everything that she can to ensure their success. Any task that is assigned to Beth is approached with a positive ‘can do’ attitude. She is always willing to try new things and reach beyond the skills that she has developed to learn something new to make her better able to serve our students.”

“Her enthusiastic willingness to do whatever is asked of her makes Beth an extremely valuable colleague and encourages the rest of us to step up and do our best for children on a daily basis.”
