Clarion Major League Little League All-Star Team Wins D25 Title; Set for Sectional Play Over Weekend

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — After cruising to the District 25 Major League (12-and-under) Little League Championship with a 20-1 victory over Titusville Saturday, Clarion is set for the Section One Tournament that begins Saturday in Meadville.

The Clarion Nine, which outscored its opponents 55-2 in District 25 action, will play the District 3 champion MYAA (Millcreek), which beat Harborcreek Monday night to advance to the Sectional.

The other half of the double-elimination, four-team bracket has Meadville/Vernon taking on Punxsutawney at 8:30 p.m.

The winners of those games will then play Sunday at 6 p.m. in the winner’s bracket with the losers’ playing at 3 p.m. elimination game Sunday.

The winner of Sunday’s elimination game will then take on the loser of Sunday’s winner’s bracket game at 8:30 p.m. Monday with the winner of that game taking on the winner of Sunday’s winner’s bracket game at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. If the team coming out of the loser’s bracket wins Tuesday’s contest then a winner-take-all game for the right to go to the state tournament will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

This group of Clarion players is in the Sectional Tournament for the fourth straight year.

The winner of the Section 1 Tournament advances to the Pennsylvania Championship Tournament in Berwick July 22-29.
