(EYT) — Police suspect driving under the influence may have caused a one-vehicle crash late last week in Beaver Township. According to police, around 5:27 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, a known individual was operating a 1997 Subaru Legacy, traveling east on Mehrten Road in Beaver Township just east of the intersection of Rhea Lane. Police say the driver failed to maintain control of his vehicle and drove off the roadway into the southside ditch. The vehicle came to a final rest in the southside ditch facing east. Knox Volunteer Fire Company and Knox EMS assisted at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and driving with a suspended license (DUI related). Charges will be filed pending toxicology results. The name of the driver was not released.
