Child in Venango Co. House Flown to Hospital After SUV Crashes Through Living Room

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Authorities in Venango County say a child was flown to an area hospital after an SUV crashed through the side of a house in the Rocky Grove area late Wednesday afternoon.

Venango County 9-1-1 said the accident happened around 3:39 p.m. on Route 417 (Rocky Grove Avenue) near its intersection with Langara Drive.

Sugarcreek Police Chief Carlson told exploreVenango.com that the driver of a GMC Envoy was traveling north on Rocky Grove Avenue at approximately 40 MPH when he lost control of his vehicle.

Carlson said the vehicle exited the west berm of the roadway and continued traveling northwest before it became airborne and crashed through the side of a house located at 1255 Rocky Grove Avenue.

A child, approximately 10 years old, was sitting on the couch at the time of the accident and suffered injuries as a result of the crash, according to Chief Carlson.

STAT MedEvac transported the child to an unknown hospital for treatment. There is no word on the child’s current condition.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was transported to Grove City Trauma Center for treatment of unknown injuries.

Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Reno Volunteer Fire Department, and Community Ambulance also assisted at the scene.

Further details are expected to be released on Thursday.
