CLINTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday morning in Clinton Township, Venango County.
According to Franklin-based State Police, around 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, an armed robbery occurred at the Anchors Away/Subway business in Clinton Township.
Police say around 4:45 a.m. the known business owner and a known female employee arrived at the scene, entered the business, and began preparations for opening the store.
According to the report, at approximately 5:00 a.m., four men entered the store through the front door, wearing black hoodies drawn tight and facemasks. Two of the men brandished firearms, and the owner was struck in the head by one of the men while opening the store safe.
The men then fled the scene through the side door, dropping items inside and outside of the store.
According to police, the items dropped and recovered outside of the store showed that the men fled on foot in a northern direction toward nearby Clintonville Borough.
The following items were taken:
- An undisclosed amount of cash;
- Surface 4 Pro Laptop with carry bag;
- Sig Sauer 938P firearm;
- Coach ladies purse with driver’s license, Social Security card, and related card items; and
- An unknown number of cigars, small packs.
The business owner did not require medical treatment and will submit a list of stolen items once an inventory is taken.
The scene was processed by the Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services Unit.
