Local Man Sentenced Up to Two Years for String of Burglaries in Knox

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – A Knox man charged with a string of burglaries in the Knox area was sentenced to up to two years behind bars.

Court documents indicate that on Wednesday, July 11, President Judge James Arner sentenced 21-year-old Brandt Michael Young, of Knox, to a minimum of nine months and a maximum of two years less one day of confinement for each of the counts to be served concurrently, followed by five years of probation. Young received credit for 201 days served.

Young is ordered to pay the cost of prosecution, a cost of supervision fee, and restitution totaling $9,274.02. He is barred from contact with the victims.

He will also be required to complete one hundred hours of community service.

Court documents indicate that on June 6, Young pleaded guilty to the following charges:

  • Criminal Conspiracy Engaging — Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Felony 1
  • Conspiracy — Burglary — Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2
  • Criminal Conspiracy Engaging — Burglary — Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 2 (two counts)

A detailed account of each burglary is listed below:

Center Street Burglary

According to a criminal complaint filed by Knox Borough Police Officer Joab Orr, Young and three known juvenile accomplices entered a garage located on Center Street in Knox without permission and removed a pair of LaCrosse hunting boots, three tackle boxes, and a fishing pole with reel between the dates of October 29 and November 20.

The complaint states that on December 19, Young voluntarily came to the Knox Police Station to speak with Officer Orr and admitted to the burglary.

Second Center Street Burglary

According to a criminal complaint filed by Officer Orr, sometime between the dates of October 29 and November 20, Brandt Young and a known juvenile accomplice entered a garage located on Center Street in Knox without permission and removed two shotguns, a Mossberg 835 3.5 inch waterfowl with a camo stock including a waterfowl edition medallion in the stock, and a double barrel 16 gauge shotgun with a walnut stock.

On January 2, Young allegedly told officers that he was at the Center Street garage location when the shotgun was taken, the complaint states.

State Street Knox Burglary

According to a criminal complaint filed by Officer Orr, Brandt Young and a known juvenile accomplice entered a garage located on State Street in Knox without permission and removed two 30-pack cases of Busch Light Beer between the dates of September 24 and October 16.

The complaint states that during an interview with the known juvenile accomplice on December 20, the juvenile admitted to entering the garage with Young and taking the beer.

East State Street Burglary

Sometime between the dates of December 15 and January 2, Young and a known juvenile accomplice entered a garage located on East State Street in Knox without permission and removed a Marlin .30-.30 lever action hunting rifle with scope, according to the complaint.

The known juvenile told Officer Orr that Young entered the garage and took the rifle, and then he placed it in a yard near the garage from where he had taken it for another known juvenile accomplice to retrieve it, the complaint continues.
