At Least One Abraxas Escapee Still on the Run

HOWE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police are still seeking for at least one juvenile who escaped from Abraxas 1 Juvenile Detention Facility located in Howe Township, Forest County, on Sunday.

According to police, around 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, a 15-year-old black male juvenile and a 17-year-old white male juvenile unlawfully departed the premises of Abraxas 1 facility on Abraxas Road in Howe Township and entered the Allegheny National Forest headed in a northwest direction.

The juveniles were last seen wearing all black.

A dozen Abraxas representatives, a tracking K9 Unit, and PSP Aviation assisted at the scene.

A representative from the Marienville-based State Police said Abraxas officials may have located one of the two teens; however, calls to Abraxas for confirmation were not immediately returned.

No additional details have been released.
