KINGSLEY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — New details have been released on a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday morning in Kingsley Township, Forest County.
According to court documents, on August 5, the Marienville-based State Police filed criminal charges against 52-year-old Jon Joseph Taylor, of Munhall, Pa.
Taylor was arraigned at 4:00 p.m. on August 5 in Magisterial District Judge Todd A. Woodin’s office on the following charges:
– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
Unable to post $75,000.00 monetary bail, Taylor was lodged in the Warren County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on August 21 in front of Judge Daniel L. Miller.
According to a criminal complaint, around 5:19 a.m. on Sunday, August 5, PSP Marienville station was contacted concerning a shooting that occurred at a camp located at 201 Graham Farm Road, in Kingsley Township, Forest County.
It was reported that a male victim was shot in the neck by a known male. Troopers from PSP Marienville then responded to the scene to investigate.
Around 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 5, Trooper Nicewonger spoke to a witness at the scene. The witness stated that the 31-year-old male victim was very intoxicated and confrontational. The witness also stated that everyone at the camp was intoxicated. At some point in the night, the victim urinated in the shower of the camp which upset the owner, Jon Taylor. The two then engaged in a verbal altercation. The witness stated that he then went to bed while the victim and Taylor were still arguing, the complaint indicates.
The witness was awakened a short time later by a friend who told him that Jon shot the victim. The witness then ran outside and observed the victim lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound to his neck. He stated that he then took off his shirt and applied pressure to the wound. The victim told the witness, “Jon shot me,” according to the complaint.
According to police, during the verbal altercation, Taylor allegedly retrieved a revolver from his vehicle. The victim then allegedly attempted to assault Taylor. Taylor proceeded to shoot the unarmed victim in the neck.
The victim was transported to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh for treatment of severe injuries. The victim was listed in stable condition as of Monday, August 6.
Taylor was not injured in the altercation.
As of Tuesday, August 7, no charges were filed against the victim.
