Knox Man Faces Charges for Tackling, Choking Woman

BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A 19-year-old Knox man is facing charges after he allegedly tackled and choked a woman during a dispute late Tuesday evening in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

Court documents indicate that Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 19-year-old Wade Thomas Botts, of Knox.

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:45 pm. on Tuesday, August 7, Wade Botts was arguing with a known woman at a residence in Beaver Township.

The victim was attempting to leave when Botts allegedly tackled her approximately three times. While on top of her, he put his hands around her neck causing her to be unable to breathe. The victim had a lump on the back of her head and bruising on her back, according to the complaint.

The complaint states that Botts also threw the victim’s car keys, keeping her from leaving.

Botts was arraigned at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, in Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller’s office on the following charges:

  • Strangulation — Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Misdemeanor 2
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, with Magisterial District Judge Amy Long Turk presiding.
