Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, Trooper Seybert, of PSP Franklin, was dispatched to a residence in Mineral Township on Saturday, August 4, where he interviewed a known victim around 8:35 p.m. regarding a burglary.

The victim reported that he was in his garage around 10:00 a.m. before closing the door and leaving. He said he arrived back around 8:15 p.m. and saw the left garage door was open, his riding mower was moved, and his red 2001 Honda ATV was missing, along with a Cycle Country ATV Snow Plow. He also discovered damage to the steel man door, which was hanging open.

The victim also found an ax in the garage, which was last in his shed, and discovered his shed door was also open, though he had left it closed.

On Monday, August 6, Trooper Miller was dispatched to a residence in Victory Township regarding another burglary, where she interviewed the second known victim.

The victim reported that his shed and garage had been broken into. He noted that his steel man door, one window, and his wooden shed door were all damaged, and his yellow 1993 Suzuki RM 125, five gas cans, two bottles of cycle oil, and one 5×6 utility trailer were stolen.

On Tuesday, August 7, PSP Franklin received a call indicating that Jeremy Chambers was at a residence on Old Route 8 in Irwin Township. It was learned that Chambers was wanted for felony warrants out of New Kensington Police Department. Troopers Cole and Latshaw and Corporal Michalak responded to the residence.

According to the complaint, Chambers fled the residence on the stolen red Honda ATV, traveling north on Old Route 8 and then east on Dennison Run Road. Corporal Michalak initiated a pursuit, which lasted a short period of time before Chambers drove the ATV offroad and up into the woods.

More troopers, as well as Game Commission officers, were then summoned to the scene to conduct a search of the large wooded area. The search lasted approximately six to eight hours before it was called off.

Around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, PSP Franklin received a call from a resident of Clintonville Road in Irwin Township stating that Chambers was at his residence on the front porch. PSP members responded, and Chambers was taken into custody without incident.

According to the complaint, in an interview with police, Chambers allegedly confessed to stealing the red Honda ATV with the snow plow, the yellow Suzuki dirtbike, the two gas cans, and the utility trailer, but said he did not damage any property.

The complaint also states that another known individual consented to a search of his property along Old Route 8 and reported that Chambers had been staying at his residence for several days. The individual directed police to the rear exterior of the residence and indicated that Chambers had left a yellow dirtbike leaning against the house, but the dirtbike was no longer there around 2:30 p.m. on August 8. State troopers found a Cycle Country ATV snow plow and five gas cans behind the residence, as well as a utility trailer in a brushy area on the south side of the residence.

Chambers was arraigned at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office.

He was lodged in the Venango County Jail and denied bail as he is a flight risk and he is wanted on a warrant out if New Kensington Pa.

Chambers was wanted in New Kensington for aggravated assault, attempted kidnapping, and theft of a motor vehicle.

The charges were filed after Chambers allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Amanda Lea Schafer, of New Kensington, and then attempted to kidnap her on Saturday, August 4, around 5:00 p.m. in an alley in New Kensington. He then fled the area in a stolen vehicle.
