Two Women, Three Children Escape Lake Lucy Trailer Fire Unharmed
WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Four area volunteer fire departments responded to a structure fire early Tuesday afternoon in Washington Township, Clarion County.
Clarion County 9-1-1 said the call came in around around 1:53 p.m. for a fire at a house trailer along Lake Lucy Road, approximately one mile north of State Route 208.
Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Company, Shippenville-Elk Township Volunteer Fire Department, and Pine Grove Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched along with Shippenville Ambulance.
Shane Smerkar, 2nd Assistant Chief for Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, said the fire started in a box fan that was placed in a window inside a rear bedroom.
Two women and three small children were in the residence at the time of the fire. According to Smerkar, the women smelled the smoke and were able to get everyone out of the structure safely.
“It had the back bedroom pretty well fully engulfed. It was contained to just the back bedroom,” Smerkar said.
The damage was also primarily isolated to the rear bedroom, beyond some minor smoke damage to the remainder of the trailer, according to Smerkar.
No injuries were reported.
