CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — Two Clarion residents will answer to child endangerment charges in preliminary hearings this week after a CYS caseworker allegedly found their juvenile child barricaded in a bedroom.

Samantha Marie Woodside, 33, and Corey Dent Yachimowski, 42, both of Clarion, face preliminary hearings on Tuesday, August, 21, at 10:30 a.m.

Magisterial District Judge Duane L. Quinn will preside over the hearings.

Woodside and Yachimowski face one count each of Endangering Welfare of Children — Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, a first-degree misdemeanor.

The charges stem from a May 17 incident in Clarion Township.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Clarion-based State Police, around 10:45 a.m. on May 17, a CYS (Children and Youth Services) caseworker went to a residence in Clarion Township and found a juvenile victim locked in her bedroom by two baby gates, one on top of the other, and the parents, Samantha Woodside and Corey Yachimowski, just waking up at the time.

The complaint states the gates were fastened into the door frame with screws and had to be removed with a drill upon the request of the CYS caseworker, who witnessed Yachimowski removing the gates with a battery powered drill.

The complaint also states that the caseworker reported the victim was chewing on a piece of paper towel, and when the caseworker asked why, the victim responded that she was hungry.

Around 4:15 p.m. on May 17, Corporal Krick and the CYS caseworker followed up at the residence and found that both gates were removed.

According to the complaint, the victim answered the door herself.

Woodside and Yachimowski were arraigned on Wednesday, July 18, before Judge Quinn.

Both defendants were released on their own recognizances.
