Clarion Woman ‘Spreading the Word of God’ Accused of Threatening Woman, Resisting Arrest

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — A Clarion woman who said that she was “spreading the word of God and Jesus” is facing charges after she allegedly threatened a woman and resisted arrest.

According to court documents, on August 19, the Clarion Borough Police Department filed the following criminal charges against 58-year-old Scholastique B. Kroh, of Clarion:

  • Terroristic Threats Cause Serious Public Inconvenience, Misdemeanor 1
  • Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
  • Disorderly Conduct Obscene Language/Gesture, Misdemeanor 3
  • Disorderly Conduct-Unreasonable Noise, Summary
  • Loud, Disturbing, Unnecessary Noise Prohibited, Summary

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:57 a.m. on Sunday, August 19, Officer Wright, of the Clarion Borough Police Department, was dispatched to the area of South 6th Avenue and Wood Street in Clarion for a noise complaint involving a woman yelling at people coming and going from a known venue.

Officer Wright requested assistance from the Clarion University Police Department (CUPD).

Officer Slagle, of CUPD, arrived at the scene and upon exiting his patrol vehicle, he was approached by a woman who said that the yelling was coming from the third floor of a building on South 6th Avenue. Officers Wright and Slagle approached the building and made contact with Scholastique Kroh, advising her they were responding to complaints about her yelling out of her window.

According to the complaint, Kroh said she was “spreading the word of God and Jesus.”

Officer Wright advised Kroh she had a right to her beliefs but needed to stop yelling. Kroh allegedly responded that she would not stop, and said she was “acting in the word of God and Jesus.”

Officer Wright told Kroh she would be receiving a citation for the noise ordinance and that if the officers had to return again, she would be charged with disorderly conduct.

After the officers exited the building, Kroh began to yell out of the window again, loud enough that the officers were able to hear her from across the street, according to the complaint.

Officer Wright was dispatched to Kroh’s residence again later that day based on another complaint. He requested CUPD assistance again.

At the scene, Officer Wright spoke to another known woman who said she was out on the sidewalk with her five-year-old grandson when Kroh began yelling at them from the window. The woman reported that Kroh used profane language and accused her of performing sex acts with dogs. The woman said she asked Kroh to leave her and her grandson alone and Kroh responded, “You don’t know me, I will come down there.” The victim said she then became concerned for herself and her grandson’s safety and called 9-1-1, the complaint states.

Officers Wright and Stutsman returned to the residence. Officer Wright asked Kroh why she had been threatening the woman and yelling profanity at her, and Kroh again used profanity and accused the woman of performing sex acts with dogs. Officer Wright then asked Kroh to place her hands behind her back and explained she was being arrested for threatening the woman and for disorderly conduct, the complaint indicates.

Kroh told Officer Wright that he was not arresting her and then threw herself to the ground when he attempted to grab her arm. She then attempted to hold her arms under her stomach to avoid being handcuffed, causing the officers to have to use force to pull her arms out and handcuff her, according to the complaint.

Kroh was arraigned at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, in Magisterial District Judge Timothy P. Schill’s office.

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, she was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, with Judge Quinn presiding.
