CLARION TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A Sligo man was involved in a two-vehicle crash that occurred last week on State Route 66, in Clarion Township.

According to Clarion-based State Police, around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 16, 35-year-old Devon S. Thorpe, of Sligo, was traveling north on State Route 66 in Clarion Township in a 2000 Dodge Stratus.

Police say that Thorpe was lost and was looking for an approaching right turn and began to turn right onto State Route 8019 (Exit 64 westbound off-ramp) and attempted to pull onto the berm of the roadway. At this point, a 2009 Mitsubishi exited the ramp and was attempting to merge onto State Route 66 when he observed the Stratus sideways on the roadway. The Mitsubishi struck the right rear of the vehicle with its front end.

Both vehicles pulled off the roadway and came to a rest. The Stratus was facing east in the grass shoulder area of Route 66. The Mitsubishi was facing north on the right berm of Route 66.

Both drivers were using seat belts and were not injured.

Thorpe was charged with a traffic violation.

The name of the driver of the Mitsubishi was not released.

The above report was released to exploreClarion.com on Monday, August 20, 2018.
