alertFARMINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State police are warning the public about a possible scam in the local area.

According to Marienville-based State Police, around 7:13 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, a resident of Leeper in Farmington Township spoke to an unknown black male who said that he worked for ANS Booker Mortgage Company. The man left a yellow slip with a phone number to be called. The phone number on the slip was answered by Bank of America.

Police say checks were done on the phone number and listed company and no listings came back for either. The phone number was associated with a scam. If the phone number is dialed, it asks for an account number or physical address.

According to police, this information is being released since it is believed that this is a possible scam in the area.

Police advise that individuals should not provide any information to these companies without checking with their local bank.

Anyone with identifying information regarding this incident is asked to contact their local police department.
