ARMSTRONG CO., Pa. — The Richard G. Snyder YMCA is proud to announce that Marketing Director Bethany Riggle has been recognized as the Y-USA Cause-Driven Leader of the Month.

This national award is given to an individual who has excelled while completing Leadership Certification, which is a credentialing process specific to Y-USA.

Jack Clevesy, CEO and Executive Director of the RGS Y, sees Riggle as a wonderful choice for the honor.

“Bethany models the Y’s cause to strengthen community every day, as she works side by side with our neighbors to make sure everyone, regardless of age, income, or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive,” he said. “She is extremely committed to nurturing the potential of children and adults, promoting health and well-being, and fostering a sense of social responsibility for the Armstrong County community.”

According to Clevesy, it is important for staff members to earn these certifications for four reasons. These are to advance the Y mission of strengthening the community, increase the Y’s impact through intentional collaboration with others, ensure Y operations are effective and increase personal growth by developing continually to adapt to new challenges.

“Earning my Multi-Team Leader certification has given me the confidence to lead my team and to help them expand their knowledge in their own department,” said Riggle. “The classes I’ve taken and the people I’ve met along the way have all helped me learn more about the Y and the impact we can all make around the world.”

Riggle began her journey with the Richard G. Snyder YMCA in 2007, when she joined the staff as an after-school instructor. Throughout the next seven years, she took on more responsibilities and held the positions of preschool coordinator, special event coordinator, fitness instructor for senior classes, welcome center staff and administrative assistant to the CEO. In 2014, Riggle took the position of operations director and transitioned into her current role of marketing director in 2016.

She first earned her Team Leader certification in 2015 and followed by completing her Multi-Team Leader certification this July. As marketing director, this training will help her lead more effectively and efficiently.

“Bethany will provide tactical and operational leadership to multiple departments within our YMCA association as well as regularly lead multiple processes and or functions with significant scope and potential impact that will result in a high-degree of operational effectiveness,” said Clevesy.

Riggle makes her home in Armstrong County with her husband, Craig, and four children. As her career with the Y has grown, so has her desire to make a larger impact in her community.

“As the Director of Marketing I get to build relationships with the community, share the mission of the Y, and encourage people to be cause-driven in everything they do,” said Riggle. “Being part of a cause-driven organization has allowed me to learn more about my community and help solve the issues the community faces. Every day, I get to see our community grow and succeed in new ways. It’s very exciting.”

The Y organization in Armstrong County began nearly 150 years ago in 1867 and belongs to the national Y organization. In 2012, the Richard G. Snyder YMCA Campus opened its doors in a new 27,000 sq. ft., 6.2 million dollar facility on Water Street in Kittanning, beginning an exciting new chapter in the local organization’s history. The RGS Y is committed to strengthening the Armstrong County community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. For more information, visit www.rgsymca.org.
