Vensel Becomes Third Different Clarion U. Volleyball Player to be Honored by PSAC

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Clarion volleyball claimed the PSAC Southwest Athlete of the Week award for the third week in a row, as senior setter Leah Vensel earned the award for Sept. 11. She joins Chrissy Cotton (Aug. 28) and Julia Holden (Sept. 4) in claiming the award this year.

Vensel set the Golden Eagles to a 3-1 weekend at the Atlantic Region Crossover hosted by Wheeling Jesuit and West Liberty, with wins over the Hilltoppers as well as Fairmont State and Charleston. She averaged 12.69 assists per set as the Golden Eagles won their final three matches of the weekend, including sweeps against the Falcons and the other Golden Eagles. With Vensel distributing the ball, five Clarion players averaged better than two kills per set, including Julia Holden who averaged 4.31 kills per set.

Vensel ranks fifth in the league in assists at 10.45 assists per set, and Clarion ranks fourth in the league in kills per set (13.53). Four Golden Eagles are averaging better than 2.28 kills per set, including Julia Holden, who ranks second in the conference at 4.21 kills per set.
