Cranberry XC Sweeps North Clarion

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. (D9Sports) — The Cranberry girls’ and boys’ cross country team swept varsity meets from North Clarion Wednesday.

The Cranberry girls won 22-35 with the boys taking home an 18-45 victory. The junior high girls’ race was won by North Clarion, 28-30 with the junior high boys’ race going to Cranberry, 23-33.

In the girls’ race, North Clarion’s Rachel Bauer was the winner while Cranberry’s Lauren Varsek was second followed by teammates Carley Schreck, Samantha Woolcock and Marina Beichner. North Clarion’s Haley Bauer was sixth and Kayla Aaron was seventh.

The boys’ race saw Cranberry’s Matt Woolcock take home medalist honors followed by teammate Dan Fisher. North Clarion’s top runner was third-place finisher Jacob Bauer, but Cranberry held the next eight spots including Hunter O’Neil taking fourth, Logan Johnson fifth and Christian Miller sixth. The Wolves second-best runner was Wyatt Troup in 12th.

Cranberry had the top two junior high boys runners with Noel Bunyak winning the race and Ben Seybert second. North Clarion’s Kaine McFarland was third.

In the girls’ junior high race, Cranberry’s Ashlyn Schultz was first followed by North Clarion’s Kylie Disney.
