Albert P. Fiscus

FISCUSalbertAlbert P. Fiscus, 83, a resident of 5516 US Route 322, Franklin, died peacefully early Friday morning, September 14, 2018 in UPMC-Northwest in Seneca.

He was born April 1, 1935 in Mayport, Clarion County, a beloved son of the late: Peter A. and Loretta A. Burgoon Fiscus.

He was a 1953 graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School and graduated from The ICS School of Engineering in Scranton.

Mr. Fiscus proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, where he earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was employed for more than 31 years as a Professional Civil Engineer with PennDOT. He had also worked privately for many years as a Professional Land Surveyor; retiring in 1990.

He was an active and faithful member of St. Patrick Church in Franklin, where he led the Rosary with his wife for many years, was a member of the church Funeral Choir, a member of Parish Council, and a longtime Usher, and Eucharistic Minister.

He was a devoted member of The Knights of Columbus where he attained the Fourth Degree, serving as Past Grand Knight, Past Faithful Navigator and Trustee. He and his family were selected as the 1998 State Family of the Year.

He was a longtime member of The Victory Heights Community League, where he served as a past Board Member and President. He also was a longtime member of Franklin Elk’s Lodge B.P.O.E. #110 and Franklin Eagles Aerie# 328. Mr. Fiscus was also a Charter Member of The American Society of Highway Engineers, where he had also served as Past President of the Franklin Division. He was recognized by Gov. Edward G. Rendell and The Commonwealth of PA for having voted consecutively at every November election for more than 50 years.

He looked forward to hunting at his family’s farm and enjoyed golfing with the Franklin Elks League and Senior League at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and hand carving walking sticks. Most important to him always was his family. He looked forward to spending quiet moments at “Mary’s Place”, his family’s cottage along Frenchcreek.

Mr. Fiscus was instrumental with The Knights of Columbus Booth operated during AppleFEST, and with The Knights of Columbus litter removal area along Route 8 Southbound. He archived those interred at St. Patrick Cemetery creating a public directory for the cemetery. He will be forever deeply missed by all those who loved him.

He was married May 10, 1958 in St. Joseph Church in Lucinda by Father William Hall to the former Marie Carroll, who survives.

In addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, he is survived by a son, Andrew P. Fiscus and his companion, Patrick Conseil of Los Angeles, CA, and by two daughters: Jean M. Shick of Zelienople and Teresa A. Mooradian of Erie; in addition to his grandchildren: Patrick D. and Laurena E. Shick, both of Zelienople and Steven A. and Gavin E. Mooradian, both of Erie.

Also surviving are his brothers and sisters: Mary A. David of West Middlesex, James A. Fiscus and his wife, Barbara of Clarion, Richard A. Fiscus of Nevada, Frederick A. Fiscus and his wife, Louise of Shippenville, Bernard J. Fiscus of Lake City, Charles S. Fiscus and his wife, Kathy of McKean, Paul M. Fiscus and his wife, Lois of Erie and Donald G. Fiscus and his wife, Mary, also of Erie. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant twin sons and by his beloved son-in-law, Terry L. Shick.

Friends may call Monday 2-4 and 6-9 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin. A Christian Wake Service will be conducted Monday evening at 6 PM in the funeral home with Deacon Richard Reed of St. Patrick Church, presiding.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 11 AM in St. Patrick Church, 949 Liberty Street in Franklin, with Monsignor John J. Herbein, pastor officiating. Immediately following Mass, full military burial rites will be accorded by The V.E.T.S. Funeral Honor Guard of Franklin at the church.

Private interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired may be made in his name to St. Patrick Church.
