One Dead After Motorcycle Collides Head-On with Tractor-Trailer on Route 36

FARMINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – One person was killed after a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer collided head-on late Saturday morning in Farmington Township, Clarion County.

According to Marienville-based State Police, the accident happened around 10:50 a.m. on State Route 36 near its intersection with Salsgiver Drive.

Police said Mark A. McCullough, 50, of Pittsfield, failed to stay in his lane while negotiating a right turn on State Route 36 resulting in his 2009 Harley-Davidson Classic colliding head-on with with a 2005 Peterbilt tractor-trailer operated by Ricky E. Johnson, 57, of Spartansburg.

McCullough attempted to avoid the collision by applying his brakes; however, his motorcycle slid across the roadway, and he was unable to avoid colliding with the front bumper of the tractor-trailer.

McCullough was pronounced dead at the scene.

Johnson was not injured in the accident.

Farmington Twp. Volunteer Fire Company, Washington Twp. Volunteer Fire Department, and Clarion Hospital Ambulance assisted at the scene.
