Woman Flown to Hospital After Falling Asleep at Wheel, Crashing into Utility Pole and Tree

ELDRED TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police say a Marienville woman was flown to an area hospital after she fell asleep at the wheel and crashed her SUV into a tree Thursday morning in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

According to Marienville-based State Police, around 9:43 a.m., on Thursday, September 20, Stacy S. Hall, 47, of Marienville, fell asleep while traveling north on State Route 36 just south of Van Steenburg Lane.

Police say Hall’s 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara traveled off the east side of the roadway and struck a utility pole before continuing northeast until it struck a tree. The vehicle came to a final rest facing northwest against the tree.

Hall was wearing a seatbelt; however, she suffered injuries of unknown severity and was transported to a DuBois-area hospital by Jefferson County EMS where she was then flown to another medical facility by STAT MedEvac.

No further details are available at this time.
