Man Flown to UPMC Presbyterian After Motorcycle Collides With Deer in Tionesta

TIONESTA, Pa. (EYT) — A man was flown to UPMC Presbyterian on Wednesday night after his motorcycle crashed into a deer in Tionesta.

According to Marienville-based State Police, around 5:46 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 60-year-old Randy L. Gilson, of Greenville, was traveling west on a 2017 Harley-Davidson Street Glider on German Hill Road, East of Hopkins Lane, in Tionesta Borough, Forest County.

The motorcycle struck a deer that entered the roadway from the eastbound berm. Gilson lost control of the motorcycle and fell off.

The motorcycle slid approximately 50 feet before coming to a final rest on its right side facing south.

Gilson was flown to UPMC Presbyterian for injuries of unknown severity.

The motorcycle sustained damage to its front.

State police were assisted on the scene by Tionesta Ambulance, Tionesta Fire Department, Community Ambulance, STAT MedEvac, and Frank’s Towing.
