Missing Ohio Man Last Seen in Clarion

CLARION, Pa. (EYT) — An Ohio man who went missing on Friday may be in the Clarion area.

Kerri Male told exploreClarion.com that her son — 21-year-old Samuel Richards of Orrville, Ohio — was in the Clarion area on Friday doing fundraising work with a North Carolina-based outreach ministry called Bondage Breakers.

He was last spotted by a worker at Clarion Walmart that same evening.

“The last time I heard from him was Friday night when he called from the TA truck stop in Brookville,” said Male. “He said a man named James was taking him to a homeless shelter in Clarion.”

“He promised about 10 times that he would call me as soon as he got there and then told me that he loved me.”

When Male didn’t hear back from her son, she reported him missing to the Orrville Police Department before traveling to the Clarion area on Sunday to search for him.

She believes he is no longer traveling with the ministry.

“He was alone. (The ministry) took all of his belongings. No money, no phone — just the clothes on his back,” said Male.

Male said her son has no connections to the Clarion or Brookville areas.

“I just want him returned safe,” said Male.

Richards, who is 6’1″ and weighs approximately 200 pounds, was last seen wearing green sweatpants, a white and black t-shirt, and red Nike shoes.

He has been entered into the national missing persons database.

Anyone with information related to Richards’ whereabouts is asked to call the Orrville Police Department at 330-684-5025 or Clarion-based State Police at 814-226-1710.
