OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Two people are dead following an apparent murder-suicide in Oil City.

According to a release issued on Sunday by the Oil City Police Department, multiple officers were dispatched to the area of Hone Avenue and Bishop Avenue Saturday around 10:45 a.m. for a report of a possible murder-suicide.

Venango County District Attorney Shawn White arrived on scene a short time later and consulted with investigators.

Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh pronounced both individuals dead.

Her preliminary investigation yielded similar results indicating that the two individuals died as a result of a murder-suicide.

Very few details are being released at this point in the investigation.

It’s also unclear exactly when the incident occurred.

“The incident happened hours prior to (when officers were dispatched),” said Chief Wenner.

The names of the deceased will be released upon notification of next of kin.

The case remains under investigation.
