The final week of the KSAC boy’s season saw a return to Foxburg Country Club (Tuesday, Sept. 18), site of the season-opening event, and a trip to Lake Arthur Golf Club in Butler (Thursday, Sept. 20) to make up a match postponed two weeks prior.

With the conclusion of the regular season, the focus for many of the competitors now turns to the District 9 tournament, scheduled to begin play on Monday, Sept. 24 at Pinecrest Country Club in Brookville.
Tuesday, Sept. 18: Foxburg Country Club
With Lions golfers occupying the top three spots, Clarion-Limestone (C-L) claimed the team victory by 16 strokes. Ian Callen finished three over par on the 2,514-yard, par-34 course to take medalist honors followed by teammates Kaden Park (39) in second and Hayden Siegel (40) in third. Hayden Callen posted a 44 for C-L to tie for sixth with Anna Burns’s 65 counting toward the Lions’ team total of 225.
Clarion and Moniteau each posted five-person team totals of 241 to tie for second. The Bobcats’ Jackson Fox and the Warriors Nate Tack tied for fourth with 43s. Ethan McDeavitt (45) of Moniteau tied for eighth and Clarion’s Lake Staub carded a 46 to claim 10th.
Also contributing to the Bobcats team score were Josh Craig (48), Mitch Geiger (51), and Cam Lapinto (53).
The Warriors total included scores from Hunter Fitzingo (47), Slade Hutchinson (53), and Tyler McFadden (53).
Forest Area finished in fourth place, two strokes behind the deadlock at second.
Landon Lauer paced the Fires with a 45 putting him in a tie for eighth. Jacke Flick’s 46, Zyler Hargenrader’s 47, Preston Schmader’s 52, and Trevor Amsler’s 53 counted toward the team total of 269.
Cranberry rounded out the top five with a team score of 269. Cam Walney posted a 47, Ryan Groner a 52, Steven Kline a 55, Devin O’Brien a 56, and Dakota Woolcock a 59.
Karns City (271) took sixth and Keystone (274) seventh. Venango Catholic and A-C Valley/Union also competed but did not have enough golfers to earn a team score.
Justin Patton’s 47 was the low score for the Gremlins, Ian Larson (49) posted the low score for the Panthers, and Thomas Fink had a 47 to be the low Viking. Brock Weigle put up a 44 for A-C Valley/Union, which was good enough to tie him for sixth individually.
Thursday, Sept. 20: Lake Arthur Golf Course
Clarion and Clarion-Limestone (C-L) split first place in the team competition with five-person totals of 246. This was C-L’s sixth team win of the season and Clarion’s first.
The Lions’ Hayden Siegel made his way around the 3,047-yard, par 35 front nine in 42 strokes to take medalist honors, the fourth time he has finished first this season. Bobcat golfer Josh Craig (43) was a stroke off the pace in second and Hayden Callen of C-L was third with a 44. Clarion’s Lake Staub (45) tied for fourth with a 44 C-L’s Ian Callen (48) took tenth
Rounding out the team scoring for the Bobcats were Jackson Fox (51), Mitch Geiger (52), and Cam Lapinto (55), while Kaden Park (53) and Anna Burns (59) contributed to the Lions’ total.
Forest Area finished in third, six strokes behind Clarion and C-L. Two Forest Area golfers were in the top 10. Trevor Amsler (46) tied for sixth and Landon Lauer (47) was ninth. Zyler Hargenrder chipped in a 51, Preston Schmader a 52, and Jake Flick a 56 toward the team total of 252.
Moniteau’s Ethan McDeavitt (45), who finished tied for fourth, led the Warriors to fourth place. Counting the scores of Hunter Fitzingo (50), Tyler McFadden (53), Slade Hutchinson (54), and Riley Grossman (56) the Warriors posted a 258.
Using Ian Larson’s 51, Troy Johnson’s 52, Ian Apel’s 53, Nate Ion’s 59, and Colin Say’s 59 the Keystone Panthers staked their claim to fifth.
Karns City (287) wound up in sixth and Cranberry (289) seventh.
The Gremlins’ Josh Whitmire and Berries’ Devon O’Brien carded 46s to tie for sixth individually.
A-C Valley/Union and Venango Catholic did not have enough golfers for a team score. Brock Weigle’s 51 was the low score for AC Valley/Union and Thomas Fink’s 53 the best for Venango Catholic.
GIRLS’ GOLF
The young ladies playing golf in the KSAC must have had a sense of déjà vu last week, as both mega-matches took place at courses they had already seen.
On Tuesday, Sept. 19 they teed it up for the third time this season on the 2,059-yard, par 34 front nine at Hi-Level Golf Course (Kossuth) and then had their second go at the 2,638-yard, par 36 opening nine at Clarion Oaks Golf Club on Thursday, Sept. 21.
Tuesday, Sept. 19: Hi-Level Golf Course
The third time was a charm for A-C Valley’s Jayden Rottman as she finally took medalist honors at Hi-Level after coming up short on two previous occasions. Rottman’s 44 and fellow Falcon Cami McNany’s 48 paced AC Valley to a first-place team finish, 10 strokes ahead of second-place Moniteau. A-C Valley’s three-person team total (146) was rounded out by Mady Hetzler’s 54.
Moniteau’s second-place finish was led by Amanda Dailey, who put up a 50, deadlocking her for third individually with Clarion-Limestone’s Sydney Simpson. The round was both Dailey’s and Simpson’s first time appearing in the top five this season.
Kendall Grossman (52) and Brynne Barger also contributed to Moniteau’s team total (156).
Clarion posted a 174 to take the third-team spot. Rachel Howard (54), Maya Patterson (59), and Amanda Matus (61) had scores that counted toward the Bobcats’ finish.
Keystone (176) finished in fourth and Cranberry (193) fifth. Ally Roger’s 51 was the low score for the Panthers and earned her fifth individually. Darian Senn (55) had the low round for the Berries.
Thursday, Sept. 21: Clarion Oaks Golf Club
A-C Valley teammates Cami McNany and Jayden Rottman both carded 46s to share medalist honors. McNany and Rottman, who won the season-opening mega-match played at Clarion Oaks on Aug. 20, each has three victories to their credit in the five KSAC events played. Their scores paced A-C Valley to its fifth consecutive team victory of the season.
Maddy Hetzler did her part for the Falcons, shooting a 52 toward the team’s 144. Hetzler’s score was good enough for fourth place individually, the first time she has placed in the top five this season.
As they did in August at their home course, the Clarion Bobcats claimed second. Rachel Howard recorded a 60, Amanda Matus a 62, and Lauren Winters a 67 toward the team’s 189.
Keystone (209) was third and Moniteau (219) fourth. Brie-Anna Leadbetter’s 64 was low score for the Panthers. Amanda Dailey shot a 52 for the Warriors, placing her third individually.
Cranberry had two golfers competing. Andrea Ziegler put up a 53 for the Berries, earning her fifth place.
