Venango County Woman Accused of Stealing Bank Card Waives Preliminary Hearing

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — A Venango County woman who is facing 16 felony charges after allegedly stealing a bank card waived her preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

Court documents indicate the following charges against 49-year-old Heidi Lynn Hummel, of Franklin, were waived for court on Wednesday, October 3:

  • Access Device Issued to Another Who Did Not Authorize Use, Felony 3 (16 counts)
  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property

The charges have been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Hummel remains free on $5,000.00 unsecured bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around May 16, 2018, Heidi Hummel took a known victim’s bank card from her home without her permission. Hummel then made several withdrawals from two local bank ATMs, totaling $410.50.

The complaint states that the following day, Hummel made additional withdrawals from two local bank ATMs, as well as transactions at three local retail businesses, totaling an additional $491.35.

When the victim confronted Hummel about the incident, Hummel asked for some time to give it back, and the victim refused, the complaint indicates.

Polk Borough Police officers were able to obtain video evidence of Hummel making some of the transactions, according to the complaint.

Based on the investigation, Hummel was arraigned at 1:20 p.m. on Friday, September 28, in Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office.
