Man Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 36

ELDRED TWP., Pa. (EYT) — State Police say a man was injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon on Route 36 at its intersection with Route 949, in Eldred Township.

According to Marienville-based State Police, around 12:51 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 68-year-old Richard D. Kemmer, of Summerville, was driving a 2013 Dodge Journey at the intersection of State Route 36 and State Route 949 in Eldred Township, Jefferson County.

Police say Kemmer arrived at the intersection, facing a stop sign, and entered the intersection, failing to yield to oncoming traffic. Kemmer’s vehicle was then struck by a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 24-year-old Steven Rodriguez, of Annville, Pa.

Kemmer and his passenger, 66-year-old Madelyn J. Kemmer of Summerville, were not injured.

Steven Rodriguez suffered suspected minor injuries.

His passenger, 22-year-old Ashley B. Gomez of New York, N.Y., was not injured.

All occupants were using seat belts.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Kemmer was charged with a traffic violation.

Jefferson County EMS and Sigel Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
