Inaugural Western Pennsylvania Wing Competition Deemed a Success
NEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) – A larger than expected crowd raised nearly $2,000 for the family of a local teen while restaurants from around Clarion County and surrounding area vyed for honors at the Inagurual Western Pennsylvania Wing Competition held this week in New Bethlehem.
Area restaurants and clubs, including Zack’s (New Bethlehem), The Snug Harbour (Fairmount City), The Moose (New Bethlehem), Daddy’s (Clarion), Toby Hill Bar & Grill (Clarion), Sweet Basil (Shippenville), Fat Kids Sports Bar (DuBois), Blackbull Saloon (Dayton), competed for the best wings in five different categories: Best Wings, Best BBQ, Best Buffalo, Best Dry Rub, and Most Unique.
There were trophies for the winners of the official judging and medals for the winners of the People’s Choice in each category, and well as a large trophy for the overall winner of the competition.
Clarion River Brewing Company was also in attendance, having donated three kegs of beer for those of age to enjoy at the event.
At the final tally, the event raised $1,773.00 to benefit Cassie Westover, who is battling a rare form of cancer called Esthesioneuroblastoma.
