Search for Man Missing Since August Continues in Venango County

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — State Police in Franklin say they are still searching for a man who went missing from his parents’ Venango County home in mid-August.

Tpr. Haun said 46-year-old Michael Ray Rice, of Venango County, has not been seen since he left his parents’ 1446 Bradleytown Road residence in Plum Township, Venango County, on the evening of August 17.

Police said Rice left that evening around 8:00 p.m. in an unknown direction by unknown means.

A release issued Friday morning by Franklin-based State Police said an investigation “revealed that Rice, perhaps, walked to an unknown location from the residence or received a ride from an unknown individual to an unknown location.”

He left without his cell phone, wallet, and medications.

Rice has a recent history of medical issues that include a large stomach ulcer in which he “experienced a lot of pain,” according to the release.

There are no known signs of foul play.

Authorities from several agencies conducted an extensive search for Rice near his parent’s Bradleytown Road residence on October 9; however, they were unable to locate him.

Franklin-based State Police, Meadville-based State Police, the Venango County Sheriff’s office, and Slippery Rock Station 1400 Emergency Search and Rescue K-9 Unit participated in the search.

Rice has been known to frequent the Crawford County area.

Anyone with information on Rice’s whereabouts is asked to contact Tpr. Haun at 814-676-6596.
