DUBOIS, Pa. (EYT) — Sears Holdings issued a release today announcing the imminent closure of 142 unprofitable stores, including its DuBois location, as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Liquidation sales at these stores are expected to begin soon.

These closures come in addition to the previously announced closures of 46 unprofitable stores — 13 Kmart locations and 33 Sears locations — that are expected to be shuttered by November 2018.

“Over the last several years, we have worked hard to transform our business and unlock the value of our assets,” said Edward S. Lampert, Chairman of Sears Holdings.

“While we have made progress, the plan has yet to deliver the results we have desired, and addressing the company’s immediate liquidity needs has impacted our efforts to become a profitable and more competitive retailer.”

The closings were announced as part of a series of actions intended to position the company to establish a sustainable capital structure, continue streamlining its operating model, and grow profitably for the long term.

“As we look toward the holiday season, Sears and Kmart stores remain open for business and our dedicated associates look forward to serving our members and customers. We thank our vendors for their continuing support through the upcoming season and beyond. We also thank our associates for their hard work and commitment to providing millions of Americans with value and convenience,” Lampert said.

Nationwide, over the last two years, there have been more than 200 Kmart and about 60 Sears stores, including one in Cranberry, Venango County, that have either closed or will close by November 2018.

An exact close date for the DuBois Sears location has not been determined.
