OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A Knox woman is facing charges for aggravated assault and related charges after she allegedly shoved and “chest bumped” an Oil City Police Officer.

Court documents indicate the Oil City Police Department filed the following criminal charges against 49-year-old Gayle A. Raybuck, of Knox, on Wednesday, October 17:

• Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3
• Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 3
• Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
• Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Summary

According to a criminal complaint, around 3:51 p.m. on Thursday, October 17, Patrolman Rosenberger, of the Oil City Police Department, responded to a residence on West Third Street after Lieutenant Love requested backup. Patrolman Rosenberger made contact with Lieutenant Love inside the residence, and Lieutenant Love advised him that the individuals at the residence, one being Gayle Raybuck, were there to pick up a known minor.

According to the complaint, Raybuck had been advised that she could only take clothing items belonging to the minor.

Patrolman Rosenberger was then made aware that items inside the vehicle were not clothing items and belonged to a known female. Patrolman Rosenberger asked Raybuck if she removed any items from the residence that were not clothing items and Raybuck stated that she did not, according to the complaint.

Patrolman Rosenberger then went out and looked through the windows of the vehicle where he observed, in plain view, items for decoration, as well as two other cardboard boxes. Patrolman Rosenberger approached Raybuck and told her the vehicle was not to leave the residence until the officers confirmed the items inside the vehicle, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, Raybuck then became aggravated and approached Patrolman Rosenberger in the middle of West Third Street with an aggressive posture. Patrolman Rosenberger told her she needed to back away, but she allegedly took her left hand and shoved him in the chest and then stepped forward in an aggressive manner and “chest bumped” him.

Raybuck was then placed under arrest for aggravated assault on a police officer.

After Patrolman Rosenberger returned to the Oil City Police Department, the known female from the residence called to report that several pieces of jewelry were missing. She was able to give a detailed description of the jewelry items taken.

While Patrolman Rosenberger was taking inventory of Raybuck’s property, he noted that she had a large amount of jewelry. It was discovered that four of the rings and a necklace that Raybuck had in her possession belonged to the known female.

Raybuck was arraigned at 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, in Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office.

She was released on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, with Judge Kirtland presiding.
