Clarion Freshman Lerch Earns KSAC Girls’ XC Title; Cranberry Snags Team Championship

FRILLS CORNERS, Pa. (D9Sports) — Clarion’s Evelyn Lerch won the KSAC girls’ cross country title, while Cranberry used its depth to take home the team title.

Lerch led a trio of Lady Cats in the Top Seven in a time of 19:49.27 well ahead of second-place finisher and teammate Bella Scott (21:14.76). Phylicia Hockman finished seventh in a time of 21:57.75.

Cranberry, though, took the team title by two points, 38-40, thanks to four runners in the Top 10.

Lauren Varsek was the top runner for the Berries in third place in a time of 21.24.76. Samantha Woolcock finished sixth for Cranberry, Carley Schreck was ninth and Miranda Beichner 10th.

Also finishing in the Top 10 were Moniteau’s Hannah Burgoon in fourth, North Clarion’s Rachel Bauer in fifth and Clarion-Limestone’s Morgan McNaughton in eighth.

Cranberry also won the girls’ junior high title, while Moniteau’s Abbey Jewart won junior high girls’ medalist honors (see full junior high girls’ results).
