Man Sentenced Up to 60 Years in Prison for Drug Delivery in Reynoldsville Related to Woman’s Death

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) — A man convicted of delivery of controlled substances following a woman’s death in Jefferson County was sentenced on Wednesday to 30 to 60 years in prison.

Jefferson County District Attorney Jeff Burkett released the following statement on Friday, October 19, regarding the conviction and sentencing of Edward Minner:

On August 17th, a jury rendered guilty verdicts against Edward Minner, 66, of Philadelphia, Pa., of fourteen counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and other related charges. Jefferson County Common Pleas Judge John Foradora found Minner guilty of Persons Not to Possess Firearms on September 10. District Attorney Burkett tried both cases for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Attorney Joseph Ryan represented Minner.

On October 17, Judge Foradora sentenced Minner to a combined sentence of 30 to 60 years for his crimes.

The investigation into Minner was initiated when 21-year-old Brittany D. Sebring, was found deceased at a residence on South 10th Street in Reynoldsville Borough.

Investigators discovered that Minner had delivered heroin to Sebring prior to her death. A subsequent, intensive investigation revealed that Minner had been delivering a number of illegal substances including heroin, methamphetamine, prescription drugs and marijuana to a number of people in Reynoldsville and was developing a drug network within the Jefferson County area. Minner could not be prosecuted for Sebring’s death, however, because toxicology studies were unable to conclusively establish that Minner’s heroin caused her death.

“Edward Minner, a career criminal, decided to bring his poison to our communities,” Jefferson County District Attorney Jeff Burkett said.

“Thanks to the hard work of my County Detectives, Guy Felmlee, Jeff Lee and Dave Ray, our Jefferson County Drug Task Force, the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office, the Western Pennsylvania District U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the Reynoldsville Borough Police, he did not get away with it. Minner will now spend the rest of his life in prison.”

“When considering his background and what he was doing, this is justice. I am so sorry that a young life had to end for Minner’s crimes to be discovered but I hope that Brittany’s family finds some solace in the fact that he can no longer ruin lives.”
