Duane Campbell Powell, age 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Communities of Indian Haven Nursing Home in Indiana, PA.

He was born on April 3, 1936 to the late Omer C. and Eva (Campbell) Powell in Punxsutawney, PA.

He graduated from the Punxsutawney Highschool in 1954. He served in the United States Army from 1959 until 1961. On October 10, 1959 Duane married his wife of over 59 years, Bertha Mae (Reitz) Powell in Hormtown, PA, she survives. He worked for McCreary Tire and Rubber Company as a tire builder for twenty-nine and a half years before retiring.

Duane also worked at the Trinity United Methodist Church as a custodian for over twenty-one years. He was a man of faith and a very an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Indiana, PA. Duane loved music and played a variety of instruments. He was especially known for playing the guitar, fiddle, and piano. He would enjoy eating a snack right before his nap time, which was his favorite time. He enjoyed helping his wife in the garden. Duane was a jokester always making his friends and family laugh or smile. He was an all-around good person who would help anyone he could.

In addition to his wife, Duane is survived by one daughter; Lisa Ann (Robert E.) Davis of Blairsville, PA; two grandchildren; Brooke and Steven Davis; one brother; Richard K. (Joan) Powell of Conneaut Lake, PA; and his favorite dog; Tippy.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2 – 4pm and 6 – 8pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St, Brookville, PA 15825.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 beginning at 11:00am and officiated by Pastor Greg Golden, also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at St. Johns Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. Memorial contributions may be made in Duane’s name to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 398 Church St, Indiana, PA 15701.
