VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) — An Emlenton man was sentenced up to nearly four years in the Venango County Jail for choking two women during a domestic violence incident in June.
According to court documents, at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 29, President Judge Oliver J. Lobaugh handed down the following sentence to 52-year-old Michael Montelle Wade, of Emlenton:
On the two counts of second-degree Simple Assault, Wade was ordered to a minimum of 11 months, 15 days and a maximum of 23 months, 29 days in the Venango County Jail for each count. The sentence will be served consecutively.
He received credit for 134 days for each count.
Wade was also sentenced to five years probation on the first-demeanor charge of Unlawful Restraint/ Serious Bodily Injury to be served consecutive to the jail sentence.
The following conditions were also ordered:
– Work Release/Job Search is authorized for Wade, subject to the eligibility requirements and the terms and conditions of the work release program, not to exceed six days per week. Employment is not to interfere with counseling sessions deemed necessary by Venango County SAP.
– Wade is eligible for a re-entry plan for the following portion of the sentence: Mental Health Evaluation.
As a result of the negotiated plea agreement, two second-degree felony charges of Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck were dismissed.
Wade has been incarcerated in the Venango County Jail since June 17, 2018, as he was denied bail, due to “being a danger to himself and others; unwilling to comply with any bail condition or directive,” according to court documents.
Details of the case:
According to a criminal complaint, on Sunday, June 17, Trooper Cirell was dispatched to a call of a domestic violence situation at a residence on Main Street in Emlenton.
Upon Trooper Cirell’s arrival at the scene, he interviewed two known female victims who both stated that Michael Wade had choked them.
The first victim stated that Wade choked her while she was attempting to walk into her bedroom.
The second victim stated that Wade pinned her down to the couch in the living room of the residence and restricted her breathing to the point where she had to gasp for air and fight to push him off of her.
According to the complaint, Trooper Cirell read Wade his Miranda Rights and then asked him what happened. Wade replied, “I did it. I did it all.”
