Ivan Lee Shay

Ivan Lee Shay, 95, of Perryville, Parker, Pa. passed away early Thursday morning (11-01-18) at Clarion Hosp., just four days short of his 96th birthday, following a period of declining health.

Born in Perry Twp., Clarion Co. on Nov. 5, 1922, he was the son of the late Samuel Lee and Anna M. Weckerly Shay.

He was married in 1942 to the former Catherine Runyan, whom he lovingly adored, who passed away August 10, 2010.

He was a member of the Perryville United Methodist Church.

Ivan served in World War II from 1942 to 1945 with the U.S.Army being honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He attended schooling in the medic field at Walter Reed Army Hosp. in D.C., and then worked in various Army hospitals during the War. He was a member of Charles A. Black Post 598 American Legion of Parker for nearly sixty seven years.

He was employed for forty years with the former Glass Containers Corp. of Parker, retiring as a quality control operator.

Surviving are a daughter Carol Ann Shay Dziomba and a son David Lee Shay, both of Parker; five sisters: Eva Shay and Patricia Peavy, both of Perryville, Juanita Abru of North Carolina, Annabelle Paris of Gettysburg (Hanover), and Frances Cochran of Florida, and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Eugene “Mickey” and Carl Shay.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 So. Wayne Ave., Parker where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday. Interment will follow at Perryville Cemetery near Parker.
