Glenn Thompson Wins Re-Election in New 15th District

WASHINGTON, D.C. (EYT) — U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson was elected to his sixth two-year term representing the newly-minted 15th Congressional District.

According to unofficial election results, 59-year-old Glenn Thompson, first elected in 2008, was headed to victory over Democrat challenger Susan Boser, an Indiana University of Pennsylvania professor, to secure his sixth two-year term representing the newly-minted 15th Congressional District, after serving previously in what was the 5th Congressional District.

Born in Bellefonte, Pa., Thompson also previously served for six years as chairman of the Centre County Republican Committee.

Thompson, who ran unopposed in the May primary race, was heavily favored to win the election against newcomer Boser.

Unofficial results show Thompson took about 68.66% of the overall votes while Boser took about 31.34%. In Clarion County, Thompson made an exceptionally strong showing, taking 72.13% of the votes with 9926 votes, while Boser took 27.80% with 3826.

Preliminary results show similar results in surrounding counties, with Thompson taking 69.16% in Armstrong County, 72.36% in Butler County, 65.48% in Cambria County, 70.72% in Cameron County, 65.05% in Centre County, 72.57% in Clearfield County, 68.44% in Elk County, 70.21% in Forest County, 78.59% in Jefferson County, 72.25% in McKean County, 68.15% in Venango County, and 66.98% in Warren County.
