Each October during pink-out week, students raise money for a cancer charity. This year, students raised money in honor of A-C Valley School Nurse Holly Irwin, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Donations totaling $1,286.60 were raised and shared between the Northwest Hospital Foundation and the Mrs. Claus Club.

“I am proud of our school and what we raised,” said Student Council Officer Hannah Farrington.

Theresa Edder, Executive Director for the Foundation, met with students during a recent council meeting.

“There is a lot of support not only for Mrs. Irwin and for her journey to getting well, but also for supporting others who are in treatment. Often, we don’t see the challenges people are facing because they don’t always show on the outside,” said Edder.

“You might not know that your neighbor needs a ride to chemotherapy and doesn’t have family or a friend to drive them. That’s where donations like these are so important.”
