SHANGHAI, China — One unusual device at the China International Import Expo captured the attention of surprised onlookers: a robot that can apply a person’s makeup.

Video footage captured at the expo shows how the robot arm uses mascara, brushes, and various makeup tools to apply the makeup to a dummy face.
