ST. PETERSBURG, Pa. (EYT) — A St. Petersburg man who allegedly struck a woman, grabbed her by the throat, and slammed her head off the ground during a domestic dispute is due in court on Tuesday.

Court documents indicate 36-year-old Walter Paul Samuel Walker, of St. Petersburg, is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in Clarion County Central Court at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, on the following charges:

• Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
• Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

According to a criminal complaint, on Saturday, October 20, Troopers Gezik and Norris, of the Clarion-based State Police, were dispatched to a report of an assault that occurred at a residence on Main Street in St. Petersburg Borough.

Trooper Norris spoke with the victim who stated that Walter Walker slapped and punched her in the face, grabbed her by the throat, and slammed her head off the ground after a verbal dispute.

The complaint notes Trooper Norris observed that the victim suffered a swollen, black and blue lip and a knot on the back of her head.

Walker, who had left the residence prior to the troopers’ arrival, returned during the investigation.

According to the complaint, Walker related that he was trying to push the victim away and his thumb hit her in the lip. He allegedly admitted to grabbing her by the throat and throwing her down on the ground.

Walker also stated that he “probably went too far,” the complaint indicates.

Walker was arraigned at on Saturday, October 20, in Magisterial District Judge Amy Long Turk’s office.

Unable to post $1,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail on Saturday, October 20.

On Monday, October 22, he was released on $1,000.00 cash security from a private surety.
